Hospital Indemnity Insurance

Hospital Indemnity insurance, offered through The Hartford, can help ease the financial impact of a hospital stay. If you or a covered dependent is admitted to the hospital because of an illness or injury, the plan provides cash benefits you can use for out-of-pocket costs related to your stay or for everyday expenses while you recover.

How Does Hospital Indemnity Insurance Work?

If you or a covered dependent has a hospital stay, the plan pays cash benefits based on the type and length of the stay. The benefit is paid directly to you, so you can use it where you need it most — whether that’s for hospital admission fees, transportation, lodging for family, recovery support services or everyday expenses.

Understanding Your Coverage

  • Cash benefits are paid directly to you.
  • You decide how to use the money based on your needs.
  • You may enroll yourself and your eligible dependents in coverage.

Please note: You must be actively at work on the day your coverage takes effect.

What Does Hospital Indemnity Insurance Cover?

Here are some commonly covered benefits and what the plan pays:

  • First day hospital confinement (up to 2 days per year): $1,500
  • Daily hospital confinement (up to 180 days per year): $150
  • Daily ICU confinement (up to 30 days per year): $300

Refer to your plan document to see a full list of covered conditions and benefit amounts.

Important Note

This is a fixed indemnity policy, not health insurance. It provides limited benefits for the services specified in the policy and does not replace comprehensive medical coverage.
