Family/Caregiver Leave
Family Leave provides time away from work to care for a family member with a serious health condition.
What Is Family Leave?
You may need Family Leave when an eligible family member has a serious health condition and needs your care or support. Examples may include providing care during a serious illness, recovery from surgery, or another qualifying health condition.
If you know you will need time away to care for a family member, contact MetLife as soon as possible to begin the leave process. You should also notify your manager.
Eligibility
Family Leave may be available if you need to care for an eligible family member, such as your spouse, child, or parent, with a serious health condition. Other family members may qualify depending on the applicable leave program.
How Does Family Leave Work With Other Leave?
Depending on your situation, Family Leave may be used with FMLA or other applicable leave programs. These programs may run concurrently rather than one after another. Click here to learn more.
Important Note
Family Leave and state disability programs serve different purposes. State disability programs generally apply when your own qualifying medical condition prevents you from working, but it may not provide benefits simply because you are caring for a family member.
