Accident Insurance

Accidents happen, and the costs that come with an injury can add up quickly. Accident insurance, offered through The Hartford, provides cash benefits when you experience a covered accident, helping you manage expenses while you recover.

How Does Accident Insurance Work?

Accident insurance provides an extra layer of financial protection when you experience a covered accident, such as a broken bone or concussion. Unlike medical insurance, which generally pays your health care provider, Accident insurance pays cash benefits directly to you. You can use the money for expenses such as childcare, groceries, utilities, or medical costs.

Understanding Your Coverage

  • Benefits are paid based on the covered injury and services you receive.
  • Cash is paid directly to you, giving you flexibility to use the benefit where it’s most helpful.
  • Coverage is available for you and your eligible dependents.

Please note: You must be actively at work on the day your coverage takes effect.

What Does Accident Insurance Cover?

Accident insurance can provide cash benefits for a range of injuries and services. Here are some commonly covered benefits and what the plan pays:

  • Ground ambulance: $750
  • ER visit: $200
  • Fracture: Up to $10,000
  • Burn: Up to $15,000
  • Hospital admission: $1,500

Refer to your plan document to see a full list of covered injuries, services, and benefit amounts.

Health Screening Benefit

You can also receive $100 per covered person, per calendar year when you or a covered family member completes an eligible preventive screening, such as an annual physical, mammogram, colonoscopy, or biometric blood test.
