Parking

Use pretax funds for eligible parking expenses related to getting to and from work, including parking at or near your workplace or at locations such as train stations or vanpool stops. Parking on or near your own property is not eligible. You can contribute up to $340 per month.

Transportation or Public Transit

Use pretax funds to pay for eligible public transportation you use to get to and from work, including bus, train, ferry, and subway fares, as well as qualifying vanpool expenses. You may contribute up to the annual IRS-established monthly limit, which is subject to change each year.

What to Know

  • Reimbursement begins after the first deduction from your paycheck.
  • Unused funds carry over as long as you continue participating in the plan.
  • Keep your receipts: Submit itemized invoices to verify that expenses are eligible under IRS rules.
  • Not eligible: Tolls, taxis, fuel or gas, mileage and airport parking fees are not eligible. Private Uber or Lyft rides and UberX Share rides are not eligible.

When Can I Enroll?

A big advantage of this benefit is flexibility. You can jump into the Commuter Benefits program anytime. There’s no requirement to sign up during enrollment, and you can contribute as much as you want, up to the IRS limit.
