Dependent Care FSA

The Dependent Care FSA, administered by Optum, lets you set aside pretax dollars to help pay for eligible dependent care expenses. You can use it for care for children and adult dependents when that care is necessary for you or your spouse to work or attend school full-time.

How the Dependent Care FSA Works

Eligibility

Full-Time Office employees may set aside pre-tax dollars through a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to help pay for eligible health care expenses. Part-Time Office employees are not eligible for an FSA.

WatchDependent Care

Contributions

You can contribute up to $7,500 per plan year, or $3,750 if you are married and filing separately.

Eligible Expenses

Use your DCFSA for eligible dependent care expenses, including day care, after-school programs and elder care programs. You cannot use your Health Care FSA to pay for dependent care expenses.

Using Your Account

Unlike a Health Care FSA, you can only be reimbursed for eligible expenses up to the amount currently deposited in your DCFSA.

Submitting Claims

You can submit claims through March 31 of the following year for eligible expenses incurred from January 1 through December 31. If you do not spend all the money in this FSA by the deadline, per IRS regulations, unused dollars will be forfeited for pretax contributions.
